FIREWORKS FASCINATIONOur eyes feasted upon the Fireworks Festivals TWICE last week ~ the first being National Day itself. Mummy was truly excited that she donned us in red outfits ~ Semangat Hari Kebangsaan, she said. Though Daddy dearest was rather tired having to work all day, he accommodated to our desire to catch the fireworks display nonetheless. So after solat maghrib, Daddy got behind the wheel and sped off to Marina, hoping to catch a glimpse of the much-talked-about fireworks. Alas, we managed ONLY to get a mere 3 seconds of the display as Daddy had difficulty finding a parking lot. Sigh!
Well, I was pretty much disappointed of course! So,Daddy Dearest being the sweetest daddy on earth (er, at least in MY opinion), decided to bring us to Marina again on Saturday. In fact, just to ensure that everything goes on smoothly on Saturday, Daddy went to reccee the site, parking lots etc. on Thursday evening. Hmm, semangat betul my Daddy!
Saturday finally came. After maghrib, Daddy whizzed to the McD @ East Coast to grab some food (meant for open air dinner ~ er, whatever that means), before heading off to Marina. To our horror, the ECP was even more flooded with people and vehicles, than it was during National Day. It seemed like the whole of Singapore was there! It was a
COMMOTION! It was
CHAOTIC! It was
CATASTROPHIC! It was.... Well, you get the picture....
Anyway, to cut the story reaaaal short, the exit to Marina was blocked by our dear traffic policemen and somehow we ended up parking at a place called Telok Ayer Street. We decided to follow the huge wave of human traffic and managed to catch the 15 minutes fireworks display at a construction site, opposite Lau Pa Sat.
It was a long day indeed (at least for me) and we reached home slightly past 11 p.m. Hmmm, but what happened to all the McD food you may ask? Er, the last I saw, Ihsan was gobbling them up in the car....
